Supporting Scouting in Moray - North East Scotland Region

Explorers are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Structure and meetings

A group of Explorers is called a Unit.

Not all Units meet every week, partly due to activities, holidays, exams and the other commitments that crop up in a teenager's life, and also because Explorers tend to get out and about at weekends more often than other sections.

Explorers often get the chance to work with other Explorers in their District, not just their own Unit, so can take part in an even wider spectrum of activities.

There is also a range of ambitious badges and awards, through which Explorers can demonstrate their proficiencies and expand their interests.

?Hi all, well for some, the time has come to leave us and move to pastures new at University or College outwith Moray. May I wish you every success and thank each of you for your time and input to Moray Explorers. However you have not got rid of us yet :) for those who are about to leave and possibly turn 18 I want to put you on to Moray Network.

If you are leaving, one of the ways I hope you may make new links and friends as well as possibly also help to settle into a new area is from the support within a new local scout network group.
I am happy to get info for anyone who wishes it regards their particular university and what groups or activities maybe in that area. I know first year is daunting how you will keep up with the parties, busy lifestyle oh and study, but one way maybe is via those in your new area that are in the local Network?
So please if you are interested in keeping that link to scouting, plus the opportunities it brings at home ( Blair atholl, etc) and very much abroad (Moot 2021 in Ireland) please drop me a ,line saying yes and where you are off to and I will see what I can do, plus get that much needed PVG done.
Again from all of us in Moray, good luck, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you when your home again
